Depart Siem Reap for this full-day tour of the Cambodian countryside surrounding the city, transfering to Kompong Khleang, a community-owned floating village that has kept its authenticity.
Cycle along the red soil roads through some splendid villages, and stop by the fish market to watch and take part in the Khmer fish trade. After a well-deserved drink, journey to one of the most impressive floating villages in Cambodia. Board a boat to discover the village in the flooded forest.
For lunch, you will go to a stilt house to share typical Khmer food with the locals. Get back aboard your boat to cruise to a pagoda, located on an island. Walk by the school for monks, observing their day-to-day routine.
Next, you will visit a Vietnamese floating village built on objects that can float on Tonlé Sap. The village moves along the river, and sometimes up to the lake, according to the season. Marvel at the floating school, hospital, and local shops.
Return to the bus for the drive back to Siem Reap, passing rural villages en route. Stop at one of them to interact with the villagers and, if you are lucky, see some of the water-bird species that pick at the rice paddies.
Please note that the program may change slightly as the tour leader can decide day by day what is the best option, depending on the weather, the ability of our guests to ride a bicycle, and other circumstances.
